Mary Anne Hobbs Legendary Dubstep Warz Mix

Take a flashback listen to Mary Anne Hobbs beyond epic Dubstep Warz show in honor of it's 5th anniversary. 7 legendary producers in the mix with the classic dubstep sound. Here's what Mary Anne has to say about it...

"January 9th >>10th 2011 is the 5th anniversary of the notorious Dubstep Warz transmission on my BBC Radio1 Breezeblock show. This show marked the global tipping point for the dubstep sound. Mala, Skream, Kode 9 & The Spaceape, Vex'd, Hatcha & Crazy D, Loefah & Sgt Pokes and Distance changed the world of global dance music forever. Dubstep Warz still sounds as vital, as primal and as thrilling as the night we threw it down.. it brings tears to my eyes. If, as a broadcaster, you can deliver one show with the cultural & historical impact of this one in a lifetime.. it's a miracle.."

Major Lazer, Hatcha, Mala and the Marleys at 9 Mile Music Festival

Everyone in Miami knows about the 18 Years running, 9 Mile Music Festival. Maybe you know it as the former "Caribbean Festival" or by the nickname "Marley Fest." This year the Marley's garnered the help of bass aficianado Juan BassHead and together they've put out quite an impressive lineup.

JUAN BASSHEAD + MC JUMANJI will perform of course, and they're bringing over some of their dubstep friends from the UK. I can't think of better dubstep ambassadors to the reggae/dub crowd than MALA of the Digital Mystikz and the Godfather HATCHA. The biggest surprise is definitely the booking of hipster favorite MAJOR LAZER. The group composed of producers DIPLO and SWITCH played insanely packed shows at Ultra and Grand Central last year, and should bring a whole other crowd to the festival.

9 Mile takes place at Bayfront Park the Saturday of Winter Music conference, March 12th and you can get your tickets here. More acts to be announced in the future, so stay tuned!

UK Bass VS. Miami Rap

Miami rap group Wizard Sleeve collaborates with long time UK bass producer High Rankin

‘Lockdown’ is a simple tale – one of a man bounded down to an unwanted relationship. Of course, that makes this whole situation sound romantic – well, our boys have a different take on proceedings. High Rankin’s synonymous production is twinned with a wistful, chanson-based string ensemble whilst the Wizard Sleeve boys allow you to imagine the chase as they see it with their wantonly despicable lyrics.
