Rusko Don't Play...

But he will be at the Arcade this Saturday! I saw this bass monster tear up the OHWOW warehouse bash during Conference this year, and tomorrow will be no different. Rusko will be backed up by Juan Basshead, who played a killer set after Ultrablack at Get Low last night, and Damaged Goods. Embrace and Overthrow are bringing in extra subs for the event to make the ribcage rattle! See you at the White Room.

Ultrablack in Miami!

Thursday, Dec 17th ULTRABLACK is coming to GET LOW!!

Bryan Marek & Nick Suddarth, aka UltraBlack were both born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. Roots of Drum and Bass, HipHop, and everything sinister, have inspired these two to create their original sound. UltraBlack dug its fingers into the world of Dubstep in 2007 and was quickly signed to several labels from the United Kingdom, Romania, Canada, and the US.

Since then UltraBlack has destroyed venues all across the United States along side artists such as: 12th Planet, UberZone, Evol Intent, TeckFreaks, Dieselboy, Mala, Reed Speed, Plastician, Ak1200, Dj BamBam, and many others.

Achieving over a half dozen vinyl releases, over thirty digital releases, three tracks aired on national television (NBC superstars of dance w/ Robert Muraine), several released mixes, and a truck full of hype as one of the deadliest west coast producers and djs in 2009. UltraBlack decided to start UltraBlack Recordings (UBR). Already Released hits “Musical Rush” & “JoyRide”, are getting played around the globe. Stay tuned as UB will be working on an album with Borgore, in 2010 coined, “UltraGore”, with promise to be one of the inspirational albums of the year in dubstep.

This Get Low will also be featuring Juan Basshead, Otto von Schirach, Ashworth, Mr. Alvarez and MCs Jumanji + The Nome joining (((SHAKE))) DJ's A-Train, DS, Alex Caso + special guest Sire Esq.

We're also proud to host the CD Release Party for WU-TANG MEETS THE INDIE CULTURE VOL.2: ENTER THE DUBSTEP brought to you by Frank 151.

Please RSVP TO Shake305@gmail.com NO COVER from 10-11 with RSVP TO Shake305@gmail.com. You can also get $1 Colt 45 Tallboys during that hour! The Vagabond is located at 30 ne 14th Street in Downtown Miami. Get Low with us.

Bristol's Finest in Miami this Thursday!

That was Joker playing for thousands of people at the legendary Sonar Festival in Barcelona, Spain. This Thursday he comes to Miami for the first time to play our monthly Get Low bash at The Vagabond's (((SHAKE))) He's bringing Rinse FM's MC Nomad with him so it's sure to be huge. Juan Basshead, Otto von Schirach, Somejerk, Damaged Goods, Dub + MCs Jumanji + The Nome representing for the hometeam.

Here's some background info on our guest of honor in case you somehow don't know how big this guy is:

Attention all bassheads: The future is now.

Aged just 20, Joker is an immensely precocious talent, he burst onto the Dubstep and Grime scenes in 2008 with the vibrant ‘Grimey Princess’ and ‘Gully Brook Lane’ which were released on Earwax and Plastician’s Terrorhythm imprint respectively. His productions possess a rare duality of intense and nonchalant energy, the soundtrack to a pimp on an interstellar journey.

Joker’s musical peers include Rustie, Gemmy and Kode 9, the recognised tastemaker and man behind Hyperdub who identified Joker as one to watch when he named him as his protégée for Mary Anne Hobbs’ hugely seminal follow-up to Dubstep Wars, Generation Bass; broadcast worldwide on BBC Radio 1. Here's a clip of that:

Joker has remixed Roni Size, Simian Mobile Disco

and Lil Boots, his productions are battered by DJs including Skream, Rustie, Harmonic 313 and Plastician. Pitchfork named Joker "2008 Producer Of The Year", a huge accolade for a producer who’s not only just out of his teens but also just out of the starting blocks.

Born to Grime and adopted by Dubstep, Joker is reluctant to be classified, but his soul drenched productions have been described as Jehri Curl Boogie and Wiley stuck in an elevator with Cameo. Whatever you call it, as we move through 2009 and beyond, Joker is one of the shining stars that can be seen in the distance and by the time the light of his electric melody’s reaches our eardrums he has already begun the next phase of his journey.

And here it is...

Juan Basshead Radio

Back on September 10th I had the honor of joining Juan Basshead in the WVUM studio for his live mix on Electric Kingdom. For those unfamiliar, WVUM 90.5 FM is the University of Miami's radio station. Electric Kingdom happens every Thursday from 7-9, hosted by the lovely and talented Amber. Each week she features a different live electronic DJ. Be sure to catch it in your ride or streaming online at wvum.org

We had a blast in the studio and Amber was even super nice about having to cut to dead air when Juan accidently played Borgore's "Ice Cream" (you can still hear us laughing where it picks back up at 29 minutes hahaa.) Here's what you missed...

Not radio friendly.

Take some time and hear the master at work dropping classics, basshead music, exclusive dubs, and of course getting a booty call at 46:40. Click the photo (yeah that's Mala, Skream + Benga behind him) below to download the full 2 hours of bass madness!

Evidence of SDC Crimes

Charged with damaging eardrums, inducing permanent bassface and loss of work hours the following days, Summer Dubstep Conference (SDC) will no doubt be found guilty of being one of the best things to happen in Miami this Summer.

It started with Skream + Benga at the White Room. Miami New Times gave a shining review of the festivities courtesy of Jose Duran, which you can find here.

Got Questions?

As all of you should know, SKREAM, BENGA + MALA are all in town the next two days for what has become known as the Summer Dubstep Conference. Adam Pascale will be covering both events for Advanced Perceptions, and he's going to try and get some questions with the artists. So our question for you is... what would you ask them? Leave your suggestions in the comments...

Mala Mangles Miami!

Hot off the tails (and tales) of the big Skream/Benga show the night before, the SDC continues as MALA drops by (((SHAKE))) at The Vagabond to GET LOW. Thursday September 17th is the big day, so be prepared. If you know Dubstep, you know Mala. If not, catch up...

Raised in South London, he is one half of the Digital Mystikz, head of label and biggest dubstep sound in the UK - DMZ, and also head of Deep Medi Musik, Mala has been forming and pushing the boundries of the genre since day one. With classics such as 'Anti War Dub’, ‘Lean Forward’ and ‘Changes’ under his belt, as well as a huge list of dubplates and releases on Soul Jazz, Planet Mu & Tempa he is one of the finest purveyors of meditational bass weight. His reputation behind the decks has taken him beyond his influential London party DMZ, all over Europe at the biggest festivals, Japan, to the U.S. including his annual WMC party London Bass in Miami with Skream. This multi-talented DJ, Producer, Promoter & Label Owner, is a serious heavyweight in the dubstep scene.

Here's a rare interview with the man himself.

He'll be supported by Miami Dubsteppers Juan Basshead, Otto von Schirach, Gooddroid + Ashworth! Plus Jumanji + The Nome on the mic! Get your limited advance tickets here. GET LOW!

Advanced Perceptions on Get Low

I woke up today to quite a surprise. Posted on Facebook was a spectacular video by Adam Pascale of Advanced Perceptions. You can email him here: adampascale@mac.com if you want some sick visual work done. The video captures Otto von Schirach, the Bassmakers Trip1 & Secondhandsmoke, and Joe Nice and all the madness that goes down at this party. Unfortunately his battery ran out before Juan Basshead's stellar closing performance.

I had no idea he was making this, which made it an extra special treat. I'm always amazed by the love Get Low recieves, be it the Get Low tracks made by Miami Bass Warriors (Otto + Jose el Rey) and Juan Basshead, videos, or photographs. It shows the true support the Miami Dubstep movement has, and we'll keep returning the love with big shows and excellent bookings.

Remember, September 17th brings Mala (get your advance tickets here), October 22nd is Borgore with Noah D just added, and November 19th welcomes Joker + MC Nomad for their first Miami show!

Keep spreading the gospel and make sure your friends are on the group, the Get Low fan page and Twitter. See you in the City of Bass.

'Killing Time' with Basshead Music

In stores now!

Get Low Resident Juan Basshead has this to say about the recent release on Basshead Music:

"Hello everyone, just wanted to quickly let you all know that BASSHEAD MUSIC (a local Miami label run by Juan BassHead & DJ A-Sides) has just put out it's latest release.

The a-side is "KILLING TIME" a dubstep banger by one of the USA's best producers NOAH D with all original vocals by Jamaican reggae / dancehall artist EINSTEIN. The b-side is a DnB remix of "KILLING TIME" by one of the most in-demand DnB producers on the planet, the mighty BREAK. Both versions are aimed for the dancefloor and are receiving support from the biggest DJs in the game including artists such as Andy C & Skream.

The vinyl release is out NOW in all good dance music record stores, and the mp3/wav/digital version will be out any day now.

For more info please visit www.bassheadmusic.com

Thank you for your continued support!!"

You can hit his myspace to hear the track.

And the sick b-side is right here...

Now go get it!

Skream + Benga bomb Miami Sept 16th!

That's right, the big boys are coming to town thanks to Embrace Events. Skream and Benga have been at the forefront of dubstep since the beginning and their coming back to Miami for the first time since Winter Music Conference (WMC) on Wednesday September 16th at the White Room. They'll be supported by Juan Basshead and Damaged Goods in the same space where Kode9 and Martyn rocked it a few months back. Get your tickets here before they sell out!

As an added bonus, another originator, Mala of the Digital Mystikz will be at Get Low the very next day! It's our very own Summer Dubstep Conference(SDC hah) and a real testament to how fast the movement is growing in Miami. After the jump we got a video explaining the origins of the genre we Embrace, which also features Joe Nice who wrecked Get Low last week with his massive dubplates.

Find Your Face

The line for Get Low III

Good day Miami Dubsteppers! I just wanted to thank everyone for the support you're showing to the Get Low events at our (((SHAKE))) party. Get Low III with N-Type was the kind of massive party that shows Miami how strong the movement is. With your help we broke records for The Vagabond on a Thursday night! Big up all the DJs Juan Basshead, Gooddroid, Dub, Ashworth, MCs Jumanji + The Nome, and of course our living legend in the house that night N-Type. He was dropping killer tunes that kept the crowd in a trance. The cheers that were were returned when he called Miami "wicked" were enough for me to believe we're doing things right. On that note, look out for the flyer for Get Low IV on August 27 with Joe Nice real soon. After the drop is the link to our new Facebook page, the Miami Dubstep group, a video, and some links to evidence from the mayhem that took place August 6th.
