'Forgive Me' Preview - Dave Betamax (Smut + Bass)

This Dave Betamax robot character is swiftly becoming one of my favorite young producers and not just amongst local talent. He's got a full length album coming out shortly that I cant wait to get my hands on and if its anything like this preview, I'm sure it's going to get plenty of attention from admirers of excellent music everywhere.

This track 'Forgive Me' absolutely murders a sample of Deborah Cox's classic 'Its Over Now' and leaves you wanting a lot more of these deep garage vibes.

2 NEW TRACK and a MIX by NOME

Violence is a track that was inspired by Lee Hazlewood's amazing voice. This is the first track I've made since Trifekta Studio closed (reopening this month!). It was produced on a laptop instead of our typical studio environment so I had to learn a new DAW and work with less VSTs then I'm use to.I'm currently debating if I should drop verses on it. I'm proud of this track and hope you guys enjoy it and download your FREE copy.

The Dark Queen was inspired by dating a serious DnB head. This was a fun track to produce since I've never produced a DnB track before. Again this is a FREE download.

The 911 Mix was a great experience since I was working with WOBLZ from Canada through emails and AIM. To me WOBLZ is one of my favorite Djs currently dropping bass mixes. Peep his long blends their SICK!.FREE Down load.

ZEDS DEAD Makes GET LOW Their First Miami Show Dec 16th at The Vagabond

We're reaching another milestone Thursday, December 16th with our 20th GET LOW event! That's XX in Roman Numerals for an added awesome factor! In honor of this we're once again breaking new ground by bringing ZEDS DEAD to Miami for the very first time at GET LOW XX. You're going to hear about it if you sleep and miss this one.

BassHead Music Boss JUAN BASSHEAD will be in the building of course. PEASANTS WITH FEATHERS is making his first GET LOW appearance to show off what he's been working on for Otto von Shirach's new Triangle Earth label. NERO Fiddles While Miami Burns With Bass

Ok, so maybe the original Emperor Nero played a Lyre (fiddles weren't invented yet) while Rome burned, and there's two guys in the UK version of NERO using the turntables of Eve in Miami, but you get the idea. The city will be on fire with bass! Eve is the new incarnation of White Room still located Downtown at 1306 N Miami Ave, but loaded with better sound and effects. Our boys at Smut + Bass did an interview with NERO, which you can read here. If you haven't heard their epic BBC Essential Mix, get it...

The rest of the lineup is sick as well, check the flyer below, and be sure to get on the Facebook invite. See you at the show!

Dave Betamax

Dave Betamax has left Miami (and Earth for that matter) to his home of Candor Chasma Rim on Mars to work on his new full length album, "Dissolved". The other day he gave us a teaser of what's to come with the first single off of the upcoming record. "Feelings" is a Future Garage track full of otherworldly pads, highly eclectic drum patterns and a killer sub bassline. Here is a preview:

Feelings by Dave Betamax

Dave also put out a remix of "Land of Lost Lovers" a forthcoming track from Miami's own Afrobeta. Cuci Amador's vocals are chopped up to create this sort of alien language on the bridges of the track and well, the rest of the track has this deep dark Dubstep sound. We think this is quite a match AFROBETAMAX

Land of Lost Lovers (Dave Betamax Remix) by Dave Betamax

Also, as a gift from the robot himself are two unreleased remixes, free for download:
Bump & Grind - Dave Betamax
Massive Attack - Dissolved Girl (Dave Betamax Remix)

UPDATE! Gaslamp Killer + DAEDELUS pre-sale

The Magical Properties Tour comes to Miami's infamous GET LOW party on Nov, 11th. "The biggest noise is being made about the tour's co-headliners, Daedelus and the Gaslamp Killer. The former creates candy-coated landscapes of sound that hearken back to the heyday of trip hop with a lingering edge induced by a lifetime of imbibing '60s pop records. The latter has collaborated with Flying Lotus and shares with him a spaced-out sensibility that pinches the repetitive pulse of Krautrock bands such as Can and throws it askew with deep bass hits and heaps of ambient noise.

New BassHead Music and T-Shirts

Created by Jumanji

Great news, the new record from BassHead Music has been sent out for manufacturing! Here's the info, and some words from the label.

BASSHEAD 006
a: BARE - "HATERZ"
aa: DJ SILVER - "PLAYER HATERZ CLUB"

"The exceptional quality of these two pieces of music, combined with obvious dance floor appeal and a coincidentally similar theme made this pairing a logical choice. One side is a hybrid Hip Hop-Dubstep monster put together by Los Angeles based producer BARE. The flip is a Drum & Bass stomper created by accomplished British producer and long time BassHead family member DJ SILVER. Both songs are a proven commodity for any bass dj and are causing ruckus on dance floors around the globe."

Another massive release from the BassHead camp. We'll keep you posted on the release date.

Also, they finally have new BassHead t-shirts! Three styles were created by BASS LOVE, and you can pick up yours at GET LOW this Thursday!

HEADHUNTER Invades DOWN

On the 26th we welcome Headhunter/Addison Groove to Down!
Headhunter is the king of all things deep. Here's some info on the man himself:

"Headhunter aka Antony Williams started DJ'ing in 2005 after gaining a degree at Bath Spa University. With an interest in the UK Dubstep scene that was emerging on the pirate radio stations of London and Bristol, he eventually gained the skills to earn himself a spot on a small pirate station c
alled BS1 Radio, with a collective known as HENCH.

After a few months of hard graft on BS1, Headhunter found himself Djing in clubs up and down the uk every weekend.
It was then that he became more involved in the music industry, by producing music and signing to EMI sister label, Tempa recordings leading to releases on vinyl and cd and gaining more popularity within the international Dubstep scene.

During 2006 Headhunter had releases on labels such as Tempa and Ascension. He was quickly becoming a big name in the scene due to his niche take on the genre leading him to become resident at foundational Dubstep night, ‘FWD’ in London. From this quick success he became one of the most in demand DJ’s within the scene.

In 2007 more international gigs were becoming frequent with the rise of Dubstep to the mainstream and headhunter released a 5 track EP on Tempa along with various remixes and tracks on compilations. He was also featured on a 2 hour BBC Radio one show that focused on the Tempa label by doing a interview for the station on Mary Anne Hobb’s
show.

2008 saw headhunter release his debut album on Tempa that became critically acclaimed and became described as ‘ a stunningly cohesive slab of post-garage hybridisation’ , he also had the opportunity to have a half hour slot for Mary Anne Hobbs on BBC radio one to display his sound to the biggest audience he has ever played to. Where Were You In 02?

If that sounds familiar, it is definitely a Zomby reference. Unlike his album which showcases early 90s hardcore/rave, Where Were You In 02? is a radio show on Radiate FM (FIU College Radio) that focuses on dubstep. 02, get it? It was started by a DJ who calls himself "The Ace Of Bass" back in May, and has been going steady ever since. We caught up with him, and he explained why he started the show:

"I started the show, mainly, because there was a huge influx of dubstep/bass music essentially running through all of the Miami electronic scene, currently. And there seemed to be a huge absence of dubstep on the radio, and virtually no dubstep show we can associate Miami with. People would have to listen to BBC Radio 1 or Rinse FM for their fix of bass. So I figured since I've grown a lot of interest in the genre, along with grime and a fascination with jungle as well, I'd do a radio show."

Starting this week, the show will be moving from Tuesdays to Sundays and will be expanding from 1 to 3 hours! With the extra hours he'll be, "chronicling more of the evolution of Uk electronic starting with jungle/drumNbass/rave and moving on to dubstep, grime, post-garage and uk funky."

You can catch Where Were You In 02? from 7-10pm every Sunday on 95.3 in Miami/88.1 in Homestead/96.9 in N. Miami, and you can stream online at fiusm.com by clicking on the stream link! After the show you can get the tracklisting here.
