Plastician is no stranger to the Miami Dubstep scene, his phenomenal performance at the legendary Laundry Bar back in 2007 set the stage for regular dubstep events in Miami. He performed at Candyland 13 along side Hatcha and is a 3 time Winter Music Conference veteran.
Plastician's May mixes have been a staple for the dubstep hardcore every year since 2005 and 2010 is no exception.
This is what the Plastic Man had to say -
“I decided to rename the mix series because a lot of people stumble across the May Mix as its found its way around the internet over the years, and I’m often asked “where is this month’s mix” or “where is the october 2008 mix”. To avoid confusion and hopefully to help stamp the fact that this is an annual occurence, I’ve decided to name the mix “Sound That Speaks Volumes” this year is the 2010 edition obviously.”
“Expect some really fresh stuff on there this year, with a nice blend of grime back on the menu for 2010. As always expect this to be a mix of the years’ biggest tracks and a healthy selection of stuff I anticipate to blow up the second half of the year.”
“Big up everyone for the support over the last 5 years and I hope you enjoy “Sound That Speaks Volumes 2010″ as much as you’ve enjoyed the previous annual mixes.”
The man who murdered WMC this year, 12th Planet, will be at the White Room tomorrow night with our boys Juan BassHead + MC Jumanji. Do I really need to say anything else?
Thursday, May 20th, Get Low will march to the beat of a different drum... the beat of Machinedrum. We're really excited to bring you this booking, and we know you'll love his style. Somejerk recently put up a couple mixes on his Pattern Awareness blog, make sure you get those. Read all about Machinedrum after the sick video below...
Travis Stewart's debut Machinedrum album "Now You Know" was released early 2001 on the influential Miami based Merck Records and gained the attention and praise of musicians, fans and critics world wide. It was heralded as the "standard to which the next wave of imitators aspires" by Pitchfork. Since then he has toured around the world performing in places like the Sydney Opera House of Australia, Star Pinez in Tokyo, Bush Music Hall in London, and the Nokia Theater in Times Square.
Now with 9 albums under his belt Travis is a force to be reckoned with. His newest album as Machinedrum titled "Want to 1 2?" was released on the New York City based label Normrex in may 2009 and focuses on changing the face of what we now know as Pop by fusing current pop music standards and trends with his extensive knowledge of experimental production techniques. The Want to 1 2 sound could be described as a combination of the pop songwriting skills of Timbaland, the huge club sound of Daft Punk and the crafty experimentation of Aphex Twin. Travis has done official remixes for a wide variety of artists like Johnny Cash, Solange, Sound Tribe Sector 9, Tiesto, Mochipet, Edit and more.

Taylor Hoeft or TheBrando28 on YouTube recently posted this gem from the epic Smog Vs BassHead smashdown during this year's WMC. Big up Taylor on the video, Smog, BassHead Music and everyone involved in this killer party.
Tomorrow night, Miami gets it's first visit from Ninja Tune artist KING CANNIBAL! Be prepared for a night of deep, dark bass with the guy DJ Magazine calls, "...the modern master of Satanic sub frequencies!" Something like this:
KING CANNIBAL will be performing at The Awarehouse with JUAN BASSHEAD + MC JUMANJI of BassHead Music, ORGANICARMA, KIRK JON, and SMUT+BASS crew members DAVE BETAMAX, PIZZABOY + KILL BUNNYFUZZ.
Doors at 10pm. 18+ to get in, 21+ to drink. 2 for 1 beers until Midnight, so get there early!
Down has been bringing the bass South Beach's Club Cinema every Sunday for the last couple of months, but starting Friday, April 29th, the party will be moved to Friday nights! Also, Slippery, Miami's only glitch night, will become a monthly, residing upstairs at. Things are moving in a great direction, thanks to the combined efforts of a bunch of dedicated people.
To celebrate the move, the Down and Slippery crews have put together a stellar line up and I am stoked to be a part:
It's a double-edged sword kinda day. After the optimism of being told Datsik's VISA would be cleared for our show, we've now been informed that it's not happening. Datsik's April 15th Miami show is postponed for a future date, our apologies for any inconvenience.
On the upside, a badman from Bristol is stepping up to the plate. This Thursday, Miami gets it's first visit from the one and only HENCH boss JAKES!
In 2009, the release of The Jakes Project, which included anthems such as Rock Tha Bells and Warface, demonstrated Jakes’ ability to straddle genres with his aptness for innovation and style remaining intact. With his own productions receiving widespread support from as wide-ranging DJs from Skream to Crookers to Mary Anne Hobbs to Gaslamp Killer, Jakes has gone on to produce remixes that have topped download charts and he regularly receives extensive radio coverage. With this in mind, it’s no wonder that his label has a host of talented artists releasing their productions through the HENCH imprint.
We're proud to announce another surprise guest for the BassHead Birthday. Master turntablist DJ J.STORM is coming down to show off his skills! Check the resume.
Find the rest of the killer lineup on the Facebook Event here. This is sure to be a great one, so come out and celebrate 9 years of BassHead Music with us!
As an added bonus to this post, I'd just like everyone to know that HATCHA IS COMING TO GET LOW JULY 15TH!!!!!
